problem with dvd!!!

i just bought (THE ULTIMATE DVD PLATINUM)
every time i put the disk in my dvd player says reading then it says open and the tray opens! i cant get my dvd player to read and play the disk. has anyone had this problem. i am thinkin about sending it back to Reel
but not sure if its the disk or my dvd player
