Is it worth it to buy an upconverting DVD player for a 720p TV?
I am planning on buying a 32" AOC Envision L32W761 720p TV, and I was wondering if an upconverting DVD player would make a noticeable difference in picture quality as opposed to an ordinary DVD player hooked up via component cables? If so, what's a good upconverting player for under $75?

Read other threads. This question is asked every single day. Pretty much all players now claim to upconvert, so there isn't much choice, anyway.

I read other threads but I was curious about the particular TV I was getting. And I know that most players now upconvert, but the issue is that I already have a cheap player that doesn't.

does the old one have progressive scan? if no, then yes, and get the Philips one recommended in a recent thread in this subforum. if yes, then I'd just stick with what you got.

Thanks, I know you guys probably get tired of answering this kind of stuff. And yeah it is a progressive scan player.

I had a 37" TV, 720p, for a short while. Upconverter made a noticable difference in my case over a standard progressive player. (Panasonic was the progressive player, Toshiba was the upconverter w/HDMI).
