New Good Cheap Upconverting DVD Player for Bedroom

Hello all:

Looking for a cheap upconverting DVD player. Should be good quality, doesn't have to be the best. HDMI connection a must!

Thank you for your input!!!!!!

I found an open box HD-DVD player at Best Buy for $30. Not sure if there are any similar deals out there.

I got a Sony DVP-NS700H/B player back in June, and have been VERY pleased with it. I have it paired with a Sony 32" Bravia LCD and a cheap $5 HDMI cable I purchased from Amazon. IMHO, DVDs look great on it! Amazon sells it for $69 with free shipping.

You can also get, say, a Philips 5990 or something similar. They're not very pricey and do a pretty good job at upconfirting. They're also ridiculously easy to put region-free, which a lot of players aren't.

^^^The Philips 5990 is great, around $60. But depending on your needs, it might have extra features you don't require. It can do MP3 rips from CD (writes to USB), and can play video and audio and jpegs from USB. I bought mine from WalMart; they also have more basic upconverting Philips and Sony players in the $35-50 range.

I'll also add a thumbs up for this Sony DVD player. Lots of people like to harp on Sony but they do make solid dvd players and this would be absolutely perfect for a bedroom set.
