Help with PS3 set-up? What am I missing?

Hello all, i searched the forums and couldn't find what I needed but I know you all may help! Thank you in advance for any advice.

So, I got a PS3 60 gig yesterday. I have it plugged into my TV (panny 42 1080p plasma) via HDMI. I have an older Yamaha receiver that I want to use for sound and I have it connected via Optical cable.
The PS3 has all the updates, and the sound comes out fine through the receiver for the game I have, but when I played the Iron Man blu-ray the receiver display wouldn't show more than 2 channels working. I know that all 5 speakers were getting sound (i could hear it) but it was very quiet compared to the game I played (which the receiver showed all 6 speakers working on the display).
Is there a setting I need to change on the PS3 for audio on Blu-rays or what? Any ideas?

The receiver is a yamaha (i don't know the model #) but it can decode DTS-ES...ect, but has no HDMI out/in.

Thanks again.
Andy

Thanks. I'll try that. I believe that it is on PCM right now.
Hope that works. Any other recomendations are appreciated.

SoSpacey is correct. Also, to save you some time searching through the XMB, the setting you need to change is under BD/DVD Settings, not Sound Settings.

I can verify as well. Once you switch to pure HDMI in the future for both audio and video, you will want to switch back to PCM. Your receiver's indicators won't show anything but Linear PCM, but you PS3 will be doing the decoding at that point.
