Optical Digital Audio Splitters?

Do these exist, and do they work?

I found a couple online, but they seemed questionable.

Can I find one at a regular store like Best Buy (I need one for this weekend) - I checked Fry's and they said they don't have such a thing.

Suggestions?

what do you want to do? send the sound from a source to 2 different places?
There should be an alternative way to do that if you have a receiver.

I don't know about the OP, but I could use something that would allow me to have one extra optical audio option. I have one more optical audio component than connection to my receiver. If you have a solution for that, I would be happy, though I'm not sure if that would the OP ... Sorry, didn't mean to hijack if that wasn't what was intended from this thread.

The opposite of that, I think - I need to plug 2 separate sources into a single input of my receiver.

No, that's pretty much what I'm looking for too.

I've never really heard a bad thing about this site:

3-in/1-out.

Yeah, that switch from Monoprice should be fine.

I just rewired my home theater system. Took out every component, undid every wire and started from scratch. Turns out I have 2 extra optical components. The nice thing is that I have an optical input on the front of my receiver, so I guess I can just swap either of those 2 with the one already in there. This is tempting; it would at least clean things up a little bit. But either way I'll still have to get up to change the audio signal.
