Upconverting HDTV Sets?
Forgive me if this has been covered a million times before, but I couldn't find a thread on it...
I thought I remember reading in a thread here something about some HDTV sets that automatically. I may have read this wrong or somethng but is there such a thing? I also thought i read something like the upconverting HDTV and the upconverting DVd layer would cancel each other out or something... I don't know. I wish I could find the thread I thought I read this in.
Anyway, can somebody shed some light on this question... even if it's to let me know that I imagined the whole thing?
Thanks.

I don't really understand your question.
My plasma will technically upconvert if I feed it a DVD from a player with progressive scan. I don't need to have the player to do it, the tv will do it for me.
Some TVs handle the scaling better than others.

All TVs that are not CRT technology have a precise number of pixels. They must show you that many pixels, so they must upconvert/downconvert any other resolution to their native resolution.
If you feed the TV their native resolution, then they don't have to do any conversion.
