I noticed the Samsung flicker issue when I compared this model to the eventual Panny I bought (both at Sears and again at BB). If it was in fact the pixel shift feature, it was far too distracting for me.

twikoff 04-14-08 04:14 PM

reason i ask.. is because that option can be turned off

twikoff 04-14-08 05:58 PM

what mount are you guys using?
corrie has mentioned leaving it on the stand, but i have a feeling we will be mounting it shortly afterwards
Im looking at monoprice, but cant decide which one i want to go with
swivel wont do any good where its going.. but might as well have tilt

NotThatGuy 04-15-08 08:27 PM

I saw a decent mount at COSTCO today (tilt) $99.00...which seemed surprisingly inexpensive.

I actually have no idea since I don't notice it. A lot of people seem to be talking about getting their system boards replaced to fix it. Never thought about pixel shifting, although mine is on.

that is very expensive.. b&m stores rip you off on mounts.. you can probably find the same mount on monoprice for 20-25$

http://www.monoprice.com/products/su...09&cp_id=10828

get your hdmi cables there too

NotThatGuy 04-15-08 09:43 PM

I know monoprice for cables....didn't know they do mounts!

Spiky 04-15-08 10:08 PM

Unless you have a desperate need for the coolest looking install, go with the Monoprice mounts. This would be my only other choice, for its slimness:

picked mine up yesterday.. set it up lastnight with the recommended settings for break in period. looks very nice.. definitly fills up the area we put it in ;)
running the break in disk whenever we arent at it.. Im sure the dog loved those red, green, blue, grey's displaying down there all night

for now.. we have it on the stand that our old crt was on.. once we get it position properly and everything lined up.. not sure if Ill go with a mount or not..
i doubt i would go any higher than 1 foot higher than it is on the stand, so not sure its worth the hassle

i saw the 999.99 on fatwallet.. but noone else has even mentioned the extra 10%.. so maybe that really was a mistake.

actually it was one of the cheaper one's that fit the room properly and had enough space.

Some of the others that indicated they would fit a 50" TV, were just too small IMO.

its almost embarrassing how out of place it looks in the corner right now..
i pestered her to help last night and she gave me a dirty look.. so ill try to get it moved over tomorrow..
not that its very impressive on my old stand hooked up to my low budget dvd players, receiver, and gaming systems :D

on a side note.. noone bothered to tell me that i could trade out my digital cable box for an hd box, and get 10-15 hd channels without even paying for their crappy 4 hd channel hd package..

i went today and swapped both of my boxes for hd boxes.
woot

Panasonic Viera TH-42PX80U 42-inch 720p Plasma HDTV: $989.00 @ amazon + free white glove shipping. I'm combining that with $50 in GC - 2% from my amazon card....which leaves it around $922. It seems like a heck of a deal, might as well bite on it.

They have a warranty add on for $60 (1 year after the manufacturer one). The reviews on their warranty is so-so.

yeah, I know, I wasn't thrilled with spending that much on a stand, but everything else I looked at that was remotely close was even more.

thats the one i had been watching to buy.. had planned to get it now, then move it up to the bedroom later when i found a deal on a 50 or 52 inch for the family room.
but then this deal came up on the 50"

yea man, thats a hell of a deal, wonder if it still going on?

twikoff 04-18-08 12:50 PM

i believe the 999.99$ was a one day only price
and the 10% off was a price mistake

the deal i got was a combination of low price, price mistake, and bonus for sears card signup

although.. i have seen other sites selling it for 1050-1080 shipped
