HDMI receivers

I am starting to look for a new AV receiver with HDMI 1.3 Plugs. If you know of one with good reviews. I have around $1000.00-$1200.00 to spend.

Brian, I greatly appreciate your suggestion as I am also looking to find a HDMI reciever to replace my older Denon receiver.

In your opinion, does looking at receivers/DVD players with the Teranex REON or REALTA chips make that great of a distance? This would lead me to Denon HD players like 2930CI - Reon / 3930CI - Realta or the Onkyo 875 Receiver - Reon.

It appears this receiver uses ABT and I am unfamiliar with that company's processors.

I currently have a DirecTV HD receiver, HD-A3 HD-DVD player and an Optoma HD-72 projecting onto a 120 inch screen.

TIA

I am not an expert on various video chips. My answer would depend on whether or not you intend to use the receiver to switch video sources or run video straight to the projector.

Perhaps several others will chime in but my personal preference is to run my video source straight to the output device.

I am not sure if I will ever become an expert. So much has changed in such a short time.

I have read a great deal on AVS Forum, but I wonder if Reon/Realta would really make my system "pop" from a visual perspective. It all looks good now on my my projector and our Panny 50" / Hitachi 55" 720P plasmas elsewhere in my home, so the Yamaha would probably be a great choice for me in order to decode the newer audio formats.

Unfortunately there are not a lot of places I could go to in order to demo different setups. It's either CC/BB or the high-end $20,000 projector places. That's why I stopped a bit short of the 1080P projectors in order to start at a resonable point.

Thanks again for your viewpoint!
