Yet another TV related question thread
I'm looking to get the Panny 50PX77U and use it for PS3, OTA HD, and HD-DVD. Amazon (or one of their "partners") has it for under $1500 currently.
Any problems with this choice? Or is there a better option (Plasma or LCD) in the $1500/50" range?
I've read in a few places that it doesn't handle 1080i very well, is that correct?
Annnd, one more question (not really related to the Panasonic): if you buy a TV today that you know will be on sale on Black Friday: can you price match??

Well, it's a good choice (sorry about the price increase, but there were be other deals very soon). Just be sensible, do the 100 hours break-in period (zero out all the video settings), and rotate the video gaming with normal full widescreen use via OTA/HD DVD.

Correction: it's now listed as "currently unavailable".

Buydig.com was my back-up choice at $1574.

The Sears $250 rebate and 5% Friends and Family discount tonight was enough to finally commit me to a purchase.
I spent the last several days deciding between the Samsung 5054 and the Panasonic 50px75u. I compared each of these sets at both Sears and BB. The Samsung had a lot of noise close-up at both stores (all sets in each location were showing the same content). The Panny did not at either place, and I thought the colors were a lot better (maybe not really fair when viewing on a display floor). So, despite liking the list of features better with the Samsung, ultimately the quality of the picture is much more important to me.
I went with the Panasonic.
Problem with this sale at Sears? Availability was backlogged and I have to wait until 11/25 for delivery!!!
All HD movie watching is currently on hold.
