Upgrading to HD?

Hello all.
I didn't see this particular issue addressed, and if it was, oops.

I need to upgrade pretty much everything in my HT setup to accomodate HD. I'm starting with the HD-DVD player (probably A3). My question is, since I can't drop the money for everything at once, how does the upconversion work? If I upgrade the receiver to HDMI, can I then run the HD-A3 to the receiver with HDMI, and then out to my current Hitachi HDTV in component and still get an upconverted HD signal? I know it won't be 1080p, but anything is better than 480 until I can upgrade the TV.

Thanks.

Well, it has been talked about quite a bit. Search almost any HT site about upconverting and deinterlacing for the last several years.

I doubt your receiver can convert from HDMI to component since they don't want to allow that. If your TV doesn't have HDMI, just deal with the TV upconverting and use component out of the A3. Don't forget, if your TV is 720 or 1080 only, there has to be upconverting somewhere.
