Hitachi P42H401 42" HD1080 good set?

Hitachi P42H401 42" HD1080 Plasma HDTV

Anyone have anything to say about this TV?? $1099.00 seems to be a pretty good deal for a 1080p?

I don't have any experience with that particular set. However, I've always heard that Hitachi is just a slight notch below Panasonic and Pioneer in terms of quality in a plasma set. They always look good to my eye in a store setting. BTW, where did you find it for that price?

I think Hitachi is a good brand and has good prices.

Punch in the model number here and check out the manual.

http://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-P42H40...3226299&sr=8-1

but I don't think that includes shipping.

However, also a good deal HERE (i think) @ Circuit City:

Hitachi P42H401 1080 42" Plasma HDTV $1170 shipped

http://www.circuitcity.com/sem/rpsm/...id=k15308&mid=

$1700 - $400 off - 10% coupon code: FRA8RQEAC4 + $0 shipping = $1170 shipped. free in-store pickup.

I have always been impressed with Hitachi HD displays. I think it's a darn good deal.

90 percent of all OTA programming is 1080i and I have seen this TV. It looks great! Don't let anyone tell you the 720p will look better. Only a few broadcast in 720P ESPN & ABC just to name a few. I do not see programming upgrading to 1080P for several years down the road except for blu-ray and HD DVD who already have it.

Get the set and you will not be disappointed.
