dvd player problem
I recently purchased a Sony Wega LCD projection tv, now hooked up the dvd player and watching a movie, the subtitles seem to be very slow, the problem didnt happen with a regular CRT tv, any ideas on why is this happening and how to fix it? I hate watching movies that are dubbed

What brand and model of player do you have, how is it connected to your TV and what titles are you having trouble with? And what do you mean the subtitles are "slow"?

ok to answer the above questions I tried a Hitachi DV-P323U player and a Playstation 2 slim, hooked up with the red, white and yellow cables that came with them. When I say the subtitles are slow, on a regular CRT tv the subtitles kept with the flow of the movie, but on this tv which is a SONY KDF-46E2000, they never come up, or they do once in awhile for an entire dialogue, I tried it on two dvds, House of Flying Daggers and Curse of the Golden Flower.

First, get rid of those cables. Use them to tie up your trash bags. Then plug in component video instead. Typically, Monoprice.com is recommended around here for inexpensive cables. Although partsexpress.com has a big cable clearance right now, might be cheaper.
That's a strange problem. I wonder if it just doesn't like the composite signal or what. It might go away with a better connection. Even Svideo might be an improvement.

That cable would be perfect if you're using the TV's speakers for your audio. But if you're using a surround sound receiver for audio, use a 3-lead video-only component cable (like this ), then use a separate digital audio cable (optical or coaxial) to connect your DVD player to the surround sound receiver.
As to your original problem, are you having problems with closed captions, or the actual subtitle tracks on DVDs?

I'm trying to remember the technical details on subtitles. The player adds them into the video signal in a certain way. Maybe the TV isn't reading that portion of the signal properly. I'm pretty sure I've seen someone ask this question before, not sure if was here, though.
It shouldn't have a problem with subtitiles, so it is not working properly, but this issue might be a tough sell to Sony in terms of warranty repair.
And like the Salty man said, that cable is pretty much what I was thinking about. Try it first, see if the TV syncs better with the component signal. You'd never want to use composite with DVD and an HDTV, anyway.
