HDMI Cable/PS3 Problem
I just purchased a 42" Sharp Aquos LCD TV and I've been trying to connect my PS3 to it, through a Monster HDMI cable. However, all I can get is audio...no video output whatsoever.
I've done some troubleshooting with it, by checking the different ports/inputs (it has two HDMI inputs and I have it in the first one,) and also by reading through both the PS3 and HDTV manuals. Nothing has helped.
Am I doing something wrong, or is the cable defective? I have it on the correct input setting and everything.

I have been reading many comments about various LCDs having "handshaking" issues with the PS3. The AVSforum has a wealth of information about the topic, so you may want to do a search there.
Here's a link to a PS3 problem specific thread:

I've mainly been in the new Samsung LCD threads and noticed people talking about it there as well. Good luck solving the problem.

Have you gone through the set up on the PS3? I don't remember there being an area to specifically select HDMI for video/audio, but there might have been.
Have you ever gotten a picture using this set up?
Yea, I had heard/read where the PS3 had some handshack issues. I had an issue when I first got the PS3, but updating to the latest firmware solved all problems. I'm now going PS3 to 5X1 switcher to HDMI wall plate to HD70 and having my Harmony 880 control all (of course the Harmony can do nothing with the ps3). All pieces are monoprice and yet to have a problem.
So my troubleshooting suggestions,
-Check set up on PS3
-Check input selection on your tv
-Make sure you are running the latest firmware on the ps3
-Try the ps3 on different TV's and with different cables to narrow the issue

I had the same problem as you when i first got my ps3.First you use your composite cable so you can get pix and then change the setting on the ps3 to hdmi, then turn off your ps3 and then connect your hdmi cable and voila it should work.
