Anyone have an experience with this "no name" brand? If you read the reviews on the Target website, this particular 42" LCD is the next best thing to sliced bread!

Um, Olevia is pretty far from a no-name brand. They are one of the biggest and best selling makers of LCD. Check out the reviews on AVS, they like this panel, especially at the price.

There are other reviews as well.

They seem to like the picture but it has some minor faults in other areas.

I consider Olevia to be part of the 2nd tier of "name brands" after Sony, Panasonic, Sanyo, Samsung, etc.
I bought a 27" HD for the bar. It is very bright, which I needed as I have three windows, a door with a full length window PLUS 4 skylights.
I have it hooked to a OTA and get all locals in HD. Image is bright and sharp. However, it has fairly poor black levels and also perceived poor contrast ratio. For the bar it is fine and in truth I haven't spent a lot of time trying to get the best pic, but I would be somewhat disappointed for a main set. Tho the price was right.
I get good volume, no buzzing and had very easy set up.
For a grand and in that size, I would look at the 42" Panasonic Plasma. Even if you had to spend another $200, I think it would be worth it.

The new Olevia 37-incher got a rave review from Consumer Reports. (They even gave a Best Buy to a larger model.) I don't know whether to trust them or not, but thought you might be interested.
