Problem Playing DVD's

Hello,

I have a Harmon/Kardon DVD 101 player, and have never had any problems playing any DVDs. However, I recently purchased a new DVD, and my player won't seem to play it. I insert the disc, and it just sits there "reading" it. I assumed it was a bad disc, and exchanged it, but am receiving the same problem with the new disc.

I tried playing the disc on my computer, and it makes my normal DVD program crash. However, when I try playing it with Windows Media, it works.

I contacted Harmon/Kardon, but don't think they will be much help. The person mentioned the "age of the player," however. I realize the player is a few years old, but do I really need to upgrade my equipment every few years to be able to play all DVD's? Is there some reason why this DVD won't work, but other new DVD's will? Does it sound like the problem is with my player or the disc?

Thank you for your help!

yea if its saw 3 alot of people are having problems with it, i didn't have any problems with it on my 1 disc sony HTS but alot of other players seem not to read the dvd due to some sort of new copy protection.

we can give more help if you tell us the name of the disc.

No, it's actually Marie Antionette. I originally assumed it was a bad DVD and went and exchanged it, but the new copy didn't work either.

I let a friend borrow it to see if it works on his player, and it does.

Thanks again for your help!
