How to connect HDDVD and BD Players to Receiver?
I've got a Onkyo TXSR800 and am about to get a Blu Ray and HDDVD Player. What is the bext way to hook up both of these to the receiver for the best possible sound. The receiver only has 1 set of 5.1 inputs and no HDMI inputs. From my basic research on these new formats it is my undertanding that the lossless audio can only be passed over HDMI or 5.1. Is this correct? Are there any sort of 5.1 switches or am I better off just buying a new receiver. I was really hoping to wait and get a HDMI 1.3 receiver when they come out.

Yes, uncompressed and advanced codecs need 5.1 or HDMI inputs. You'll probably want to connect the Blu-ray to the 5.1 inputs because the majority of their discs have DTS-MA or PCM uncompressed tracks. HD-DVD does have a few TrueHD discs, but they're few compared to BD.
