SVS subwoofers
So I'm looking for a good sub to go with my speakers (Martin Logan 2 x SL3, 2 x Aerius i, 1 Theater).
I guess the natural match is the ML Descent, but I've heard good things about SVS subwoofers, too-- and they're a lot cheaper. I know Spiky uses them and really likes them...
So anyone have any suggestions/recommendations?

To me, there are SVS and HSU, then JBL (and others), then a long line in row C.
SVS produces deep, tight, clean bass that you won't be disappointed with.
I have a JBL, which I love, but I'll tell you right now that if a good deal on a SVS came my way, I'd jump immediately.

Well, you knew I'd show up.
Recommendation:
Try out a midrange SVS in the $800-1500 range. You might like the PC-Ultra to fit with that ML/ATI system. With the savings vs the Descent, buy a Rane PE17 parametric equalizer ($400) or similar so you can seriously tweak out the sub with something that fits your system's quality level. SVS sells them, but you might be able to get better prices elsewhere. I gotta get me one of these babies. (hmm, maybe they don't sell them anymore, don't seem to see them on the site) Although, the Ultras do come with a one band PEQ built in. Unless your room needs added help, I'd start with just the sub. Only add the Rane if you need more adjustments, it offers 5 band PEQ.

Forgot. If you do any SVS shopping at all, it's worth it to measure out your room's volume and send the dimensions to Ron or Tom (maybe a diagram), along with an appraisal of your listening habits for bass. They are the S & V of SVS. They won't oversell and they will give a recommendation. Sometimes they recommend their $400 sub to people who thought they should spend $1000.

Outside of the pro calibration on my Mits the SVS PB-10 was the "best bang for the buck" money I've spent on my HT. For the price the sound and build quality is amazing.

When I upgrade, I'll upgrade to SVS subs. I've heard nothing but great things about them. But it will be a while as I've got 2 Velodyne HGS-18 subs in practically brand new, little used condition.

That is a PC Plus or PC Ultra, in the 2039 size, it appears.
I think Plus, unless it is an older Ultra. The latest Ultras have a different amp, I believe.
