Putting anything on that back wall at this point means trying to get a cable down that wall. The only easy way I can see to accomplish this is to cut the ceiling to put the cable through a foot or so before reaching the back wall and then drapping the cables down the wall which isn't appealing.

House is completed upon move in, short of the actually moving in. We could have exposed wires coming out of the ceiling and down that wall, see above, but obviously that isn't the most desireable way to go. Even then, small surrounds versus moderately sized bookshelfs hanging on that wall isn't what we want (seems like I'm spending more time explaining things rather than receiving help on models to further research).

Could have been pretty simple but not being able to get cables down that exterior wall makes things very difficult without compromising on having a living/dining room emphasized with large speakers and cables exposed or bracing small surrounds somewhere off the ceiling.

I used to be a custom installer, and have run into all sorts of problems like this. If you get yourself a 6' flexible shaft drill bit ($30-50) you should be able to cut a small hole (coverable by a wall plate) in the wall and drill up through the walls top plate into the attic. If you use in-walls the larger hole will make it easier to do the drilling. The two things that will make it difficult are the insulation in the wall (since this is an outside wall), and the fact that it will be hard to reach the top plate from the attic due to the slope of the roof, but it can be done. P.S. I am considering the B&W CCM Cinema and CDS6 S3 for my new cinema room.

I highly recommend the B&W CCM's, that is what I am running in my theater!

Tell me about. I just had a house built and they would not let me do anything to the house. But like you said they don't want to be held liable. What is really funny is that they will not let the painters take off electrical covers to do touch ups around the boxes. They have to get the electricians to take them off and than the painters can do what they need to. Than the electricians have to put them back on. That is how scared builders and contractors are for being held liable.

Sorry to change the subject.

Very helpful. Thank you kindly for the suggestion. I'll explore this further when we move in and decide exactly what "we" want to do.
