Philips DVP5140...a worthwhile upgrade to the DVP642??
I was in WallyWorld today and saw that Philips released a replacement player to its DVP-642.
Now, I love my DVP-642, but it does have some issues. And the DVP5140 seems to handle .WMA files and up to DivX 6 (including menus). All for $55.
They also had some of the 642s lying around on clearance for only $40.
Since I had been toying with picking up a 642 for my brother, is it worth the extra $15 to go for the newer model? Or are the extra features just window dressing, and at heart its the same machine as the 642?
The DVP5140 appears to have been available since March, so I'm hoping someone here has had a chance to play around with one.
As always, any help is greatly appreciated.

Online research indicates that it's a great unit for DivX. I might have to pick one up, but I'll be keeping my 642/37 around for a long time. In other words, short of playing around with it myself, research indicates you should go for it.

I have a Toshiba 3990 on order (backordered) with Crutchfield for 40.81 shipped for a 2nd Divx player, in addition my DVP-642. The Toshiba has long file name ~23 characters, I believe, vs the shorter filenames Philips models. Also, the 3990 suppose to support Opel and GMC. I thought I read that somewhere.
bhome83 There is a Guide for Avi files that will not play. I usually burn to DVD-RW first to sample test the files..
Patman Thanks for the link for comparison!

Thanks for the info. I ended up buying the 5140 for my brother. He wanted something that would play everything, and its pretty darned close. I doubt he'll ever use the Divx Ultra functionality, but he'll use most of the rest.
Plus, its a big step up from his 6 year old Zenith that can't handle any burned media.
