Using HDMI, Component Video or HDMI Switcher
I have a Panasonic TH-50PX50U HDTV that only has 1 HDMI input. I currently connect my RCN HD Cable Box to the TV via HDMI.
I would like to buy an upconvert DVD player.
However, I am forced to connect 1 via HDMI and 1 via Component cables. Which would you connect with the HDMI? Cable or DVD?
Or, has anyone tried the HDMI Switchers? Any comments on picture quality? For example, using an HDMI Switcher compared to component video?

I have a RCN HD cable box and a upconverting DVD player so I had the same problem. Originially I used the HDMI for the DVD player and component for cable.
I have a Samsung 5067. I ended up getting a HDMI switcher from monoprice and to be honest with you, there is a slight difference in the quality of the cable. So, depending on your setup you may see a difference or may not.

I have the Yamaha HTR 5990 that has 2 HDMI inputs. I plan on connecting my cable box and HD up convert DVD player when the 5-disc Sony player comes out next month. I would have a tough choice if I had to pick only one component to connect via HDMI.

With cable boxes being HDMI (even though I don't have one), Playstation 3 being HDMI, HD-DVD being HDMI, and Blu-Ray being HDMI?
Well, it's going to be a nightmare to decide.
I will get a switcher.
Thank god I even have HDMI. I bought my tv last year. But, multiple HDMI switches on upcoming tv's are a hell of a lot more convenient.
