Help with BOSE 321 seriesII .. newcomer

I have a bose 321 seriesII that was originally purchased in the USA. It is region 1. I wanted to make it region 2 or multi region, but all popular hack codes have failed. BOSE UK say that it CANNOT be hacked because in the USA they are region 1 only chip (or something). They also refuse to change it for me because they want to "protect the UK BOSE dealership" !!! Does anyone know if this unhackable thing is for real? Can you change a USA unit to all regions ... any help or guidlines please

Any particular reason why you do not believe the manufacturer?

I just feel that they want me to buy a new uk unit .... they certainly don't like eBay. So a little suspect about their motive

Did you check videohelp.com and try their suggested hacks?

Of course the MFG is not going to do it for you. If you cannot get it hacked to R0, I'd suggest looking outside of Bose for your next equipment.

Bose doesn't care if you are happy, they just want your money. Which they already got. Sorry. If you can't hack it yourself, you'll probably have to sell it.

Does the 321 have a digital input to connect an external dvd player? If so, pick up a cheap region 2 player. Spiky and the others are correct - Bose cares about customer service about as much as it cares about sound quality

Spiky, you're right about that,
BobDole42, I've thought about the extra dvd option... that would be a shame though.
mbs, after trying your suggestion of videohelp.com (and thaks to stefan too), I've found myself a great site, that I hope is giving the answers ...

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bose321/

This site gives firmware updates and methods to fix my problem, as well as people who have successfully made the change from USA region 1 unit to mutiregion player.
I'm going to give it a go.

Good luck with the region change. If it doesn't work, you can always pick up a cheapo dvd player to tide you over.

Hi there,
I just finished with flashing my M1712 with XB10 on my PC then, once DVD was back in the main unit, I then used KNCON010300_3 to update the rest. After that, I did the usual hack .. IT WORKED.
I now have a USA unit, in the UK playing multiregion films.

Thanks to all who offered information

Is where all the files can be found plus loads of info as to how to take unit apart to access the DVD etc
