I have this CyberHome:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=3610578

It upconverts (and allows you to select output of 480p/720p/1080i) and can easily be made region free. It also comes with the HDMI cable (and the other types if that is what you need). Pretty bulletproof, just like my old CyberHome.

Softmod an xbox which only takes about 20-30 minutes and you can install XBMC which will play anything you throw at it.

I have the Philips one but the xbox one is the one that really plays anything.

Just a few general questions about the CyberHome dvd player.
1) I notice you can make it region free from a hack I found on the internet, but does the tv also need to support PAL format, or just the dvd player?

2) I noticed it has a slot for HDMI cables, are these better than DVI cables?

3) How improved is the picture quality with an up-conversion dvd player if I have a 42 inch plasma tv, using component cables right now?

4) One question not concerning the dvd player, but does amazon.uk ship to the United States?

Thanks, I dont know too much about home theater systems, and am currently using just a cheap magnavox dvd player that I had for years. I also am looking for a region free dvd player, since there are so many amazing dvd packages out there.
