I still have the JVC 701 i bought back around June '99

it was a pain for a few years but finally got fixed right and is working flawlessly (knock on wood!)

I am still using my Panasonic PR91K that I purchased May 2001. To this day I still can not find a better player with the same picture.

Sony 5 disc pleyer about 3 years now. Still plays like a champ. I want to upgrade sometime, but I'm waiting for more $$$ or this sucker to break. Also there's a Philips in the bedroom that's been around a few years.

Panasonic a110 I believe.

Got it as a wedding present in Fall '98. Retailed for ~ 800 bucks CAD at the time.

Still works fine. Parents have it now for the grandkids so they can de-stress.

I replaced it awhile ago with an RJTech 700 which cost me ~ 80 bucks CAD and I love it. Plays almost anything.

Main unit is a Elite Changer from 2000. I still have my older pioneer 414 I think in the bedroom and an original toshiba from 1997.

Toshiba sd-4900 , around 2 years I believe

Spiky 11-06-05 07:47 PM

Sony S360 for 3 years---died, C:13.
Malata N996 for 2 years----power supply exploded.
Denon 2900 for 2.5 years---OMG this thing is awesome, if it ever dies I'll probably cry like a baby.

Some other crap for my other TVs.

My Sony has been running strong since July of '99.

Philips 727.

I've had it for about a year and a half now I believe. Still working

Still using the Toshiba 3109 I got in February 2000. Aside from one firmware upgrade, it hasn't needed any repairs and still works quite well. Although, those double-sided Universal discs tend to give it some playback problems every so often.

I have a Toshiba 4900 that is about 2 years old. I use it nearly every day and it is still going strong.

Apex AD-1200...had it since October 18th 2002. Still going pretty strong but it's about time for a new one.

eedoon 11-11-05 11:06 AM

I bought my player in 2003. But I had my first DVD-ROM on October 1999. I've always been a htpc enthusiast. :D

- I used a Sony DVD-ROM from 1999 thru around 2002.

- Then I bought an Aiwa AX-10 in 2002. That was given to my GF, so I could watch movies at her place.

- Then in 2004, I bought a Phillips DVP-642 to watch PAL and non-R1 discs.

- Monday I ordered an OPPO player with DVI-out to upconvert to my new HDTV. Should be here in a day or so.

alxreys 11-11-05 12:46 PM

Got my OPPO OPDV971H last Monday.

2 year old Denon 2900...excellent unit. My first player was a Sony (forget the model #), bought in summer 99. The Sony was solid, but the Denon was worth the upgrade: better picture & sound, prog scan, and I even use the high-rez audio formats once in a while :D
