Best Plasma/LCD TV for around $2,000

Hey Guys, I'm ready to make my first purchase of a plasma/LCD TV. I'm looking to spend right around $2,000 for one. I would like it to be 42' or bigger. any recommendations you guys have would be awesome. Thanks for your help!

If you can beat this deal I'll be surprised. You won't get an HD res plasma for $2k easily. Not from a decent brand. Costco will have a Sceptre 37" LCD with true 1080p resolution in a couple weeks for $1700. Might be worth checking out.

If you want to stay under or right around $2k, check out the Panny commercial units. Be aware that commercial units do not come with a tuner or speakers.

Thanks for your help, maybe I'll stick with a DLP rather than a plasma/LCD. I'm sure I can find a nice 50' for right around $2,000.

Be sure to do a side-by-side comparison if you're thinking of going dlp. I have been *distinctly* unimpressed with every model I've seen next to a well-set-up plasma.

If it were me (and it will be soon!), I'd go for the 42" Panny hands-down. Beautiful, natural-looking picture.

BestBuy has a silver 42" Sony LCD "Grand Wega" for $1799 right now. Picture looks fantastic. I read on another forum that there's an A10/A20 black/grey series of Sony LCDs as well. What's the consensus on how these LCDs compare to the DLPs?

That Sony looks very nice. I saw it at Best Buy a few days ago. Now is that considered a DLP because it's not flat? And about DLP, I heard it takes up to 30 seconds for a DLP TV to start up everytime it's turned on, is this true? Also, whats the deal with the bulb? Is it only DLp that has to replace the bulb?
