Best TV for sports and videogames.
Im thinking about buying a new HDTV for around 2500 or less in a few months (or longer). Which type of new TVs (CRT, LCD, DLP, Plasma, EDTV...) are best for watching sports AND playing videogames. Which brands are perferable (Sony, Panny, Samsung...) as well.
TIA

Though depending on how much he plays games and watches sports a projector might be costly in the long run if he uses it a ton and has to shell out for a new bulb every year or two.
Just throwing that out there since a lot of people with projectors use them mainly just for movies and have a TV for video games, sports and other television watching to maximize bulb life.

At four hours a day every single day, it would take a little under just a tad under three years before I will have to replace my roughly $250 bulb. And since my PJ cost about $750 you can figure how long it would take before getting anywhere near the cost of a LCD/PLASMA or LCD/DLP RP TV. I use my PJ for EVERYTHING, including Saturday morning cartoons! Even with the use I put on it, I will likely upgrade my PJ well before it is time to replace the bulb. Even with a nicer of PJ of say $1,500 the math still shows a bulb is not that big of a deal. Besides, some of the TV's mentioned have bulbs that go out as well.
IMHO, of more importance, what kind of light control do you have in the room? You don't want to watch in total darkness, but if you cannot control the light, then it might be an issue on Sunday afternoon football.
Edit: and when you talk about some of the truely awesome PJ's that Spiky mentions, a new bulb every three to four years is money well spent.

Yeah, 4 hours a day isn't bad and I'd have little hesitation about a projector if he ahs the right room for one.
But many spend more than that watching TV and playing games each day. So I wanted to warn him incase he falls in that group.

Thanx for the replies so far. The newer Samsung DLP does look very good. About the PJs. I would love to get one but Im not sure if I have enough room. I will continue doing research via this site and other sources until I find the "perfect" fit for me. I probably watch TV around 5 or so hrs per day and play videogames in spurts depending if I have something new.
