Need help choosing DVD Recorder

Hi, I've been searching for a DVD recorder.
I've narrowed it down to 3.
The main reason for these 3 is price.
My price limit is 200 Canadian, and these fit that range.

1) Kreisen DVD-530C DVD Recorder

2) CyberHome DVR1500 http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...258&CatId=1702
3) Maxent MX-RS215
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...120&CatId=1702

They seem so similar to me, so I'm hoping some of you can tell me:
1) any significant differences
2) which is the best of the 3?

I noticed that the CyberHome DVR1500 has a feature the others don't:
[b]Capacity: 4.7GB[b/]

Does this mean that it has a hard drive? Or is it the DVD capacity?

To be honest, none of those look very promising to me. The 'feature' listing on the Cyberhome the others don't have isn't anything other than a listing of how much capacity a DVD-R holds, I believe. So, it's not something the others don't have, it's just something that's listed there. Kind of odd, actually.

Hi, I need a DVD-Recorder to record home videos.
What is "not promising" about these?

I only have a basic understanding of Dvd-Recorders, and the main differences I see are
- No hard drive
- No brand name

Do you see it the same way, or are they missing features a standard DVD recorder would have?

The cheap ones are all missing the editing functions that are on more expensive ones. That shouldn't necessarily stop you, though. I'm quite happy with my Panny ES 10, which is $180-200 US. It doesn't have those functions. I can't even pick where chapter stops are on mine, but I'm coping with it rather than spending more cash at this time.

In terms of comparing USA $$ I think 200 CAN is like $240-$260. Anyway I'm not familar with those models but we did pick up the Panasonic ES-10 this week for under $200. I've been pleased so-far with the PQ but I'm still toying with some of the features. Another one is the Pioneer 220 and I think the new model is the 225. It falls in that under $200 (USA) range.

You maybe able to find some good deals going on since several manufacures just released their new recorders or getting ready to. Do a search on like www.pricegrabber.com or even try www.cnet.com. You can also go to these sites for more input on models and specs. Good luck.

The CH has gotten bad user reviews, and the other 2 are very off brand. Before buying one of them, I would do a lot of research on them. Often, off brand ones are more complicated and less reliable to use. YMMV. It may save you a lot of time and frustration to save up some more money and get a player that may be more reliable.

Don't know if I'm reading that wrong, but the exchange rate is 200USD = 250CAD and 200CAD = 160USD. Approximately, of course, changes every day.
