Is there an HD testing device/process?

What I mean is something I can connect up to the component input on the TV and run through the various modes it is supposed to support to verify that it does. I seems to be having a problem w/ my Xbox displaying correctly on a Sony plasma. No matter what I try I can't consistantly get a 16:9 signal so I'l like to run through all the modes and ratios to make sure they are displaying correctly. See this thread for more details http://dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=413956

thx

Well first of all not all games have hd output. Second you need to have the HD av pack from Microsoft to connect the xbox and third you need to make sure that your vbox is properly setup to send the signal and the tv is set to receive the signal.

Also I believe Sony WS TVs have a function for auto aspect control. It doesn't always work correctly so many people say they turn it off and manually change the AR format to match the source signal or how they want to stretch it.
