I just bought a Sony DVP-NS775v, kick ass (progressive scan) video and audio quality (better than my old $500 pioneer) for $125, couldn't be happier.

I have a Pansonic S25, a JVC 3 tray player, and two cheap $30 players that I have for my kids.

Dmacsg1 02-22-05 03:11 PM

My main one in the living room is the Onkyo DV-SP300.

My region free one in the living room is the Cyberhome CH-DVD300.

The one in my bedroom is the Apex AD-1130W.

The one in my son's room is the Mintek DVD 1600.

Then of course there is my X-box, PS2, and my Dell computer!!

I have had two before the Onkyo! My very first one I sold to my wife's co-worker and the second one I had is at my sister's house!!

Wow!! That's alot of DVD players in the last FOUR years!!

Take care all!!

Djangoman 02-22-05 06:39 PM

Used to be a cheapo Chinese player, TCL FD60 - sold it to my friend after almost two years in service (still working perfectly).

Now I use Pioneer DV 676A-S. This is equivalent model to 575A, sold in SE Asia and Australia if I'm not mistaken, as the manual comprises three models (676, 575A, and 578A). Already region free out of the box.

I am going to upgreat my DVD player so can someone recommend a good one to buy :-)

jessebo 02-22-05 07:38 PM

I've got a Pioneer DV-C302D. this is my favorite player even though it's not a progressive scan. I've had discs freeze in other players that play flawlessly in my pioneer, so I can't seem to part with it. one of these days I'll pick up a high end pioneer player, but for right now I'll settle for my old one..

Panasonic XP30 for R1 and R0's, Toshiba 4900 for everything else. :)

Time to upgrade the Toshiba 4900, the PQ difference between the two is starting to get to me.

Pioneer DV-578A as my main home theatre player. Horrible start-up screen and menus, but does the most amazing PAL -> NTSC conversion I've personally seen. Just looking for a region hack now, as ripping my non-Region-1 discs and burning them onto region-free DVD-Rs is kind of a pain.

Panasonic DVD-CV52 5-disc changer in my bedroom. Mainly used for TV DVDs and MP3 CDs. Used to be my main player until it started having issues after I accidentally left a DVD inside it, unplugged it, and turned it on its side when moving it. I got the DVD out, scratch free, but the player's been a little glitchy ever since.

No-name Piece of Junk in the living room. Acquired from family member when he got a new player. Works, most of the time. Does good PAL -> NTSC, surprisingly, and has no issues with DVD-R or DVD+R (the Panasonic craps out after 2 minutes and just doesn't do PAL in any way).

right now:
i have 2 Sony DVP-CX985V (400 disc/sacd) players

http://img.shopping.com/cctool/PrdIm...4/21088548.JPG

and

2 more Sony DVP-CX875P (301 disc/flipper) players.

http://img.shopping.com/cctool/PrdIm...a/20260906.JPG

between them all, they store my entire collection and i am very happy with their quality and number of options they provide (i do favor the 400 disc changers though since they are quieter and faster to change the disc)

dollfins1, have you ever had any problems with the 400 disc changers? I'm just asking because I had a kenwood 200 disc cd changer that used to give me problems. the tray when it was spinning used to throw the cds off to the side of the player inside. it actually threw 5 of them off one time from the same area, and I thought they were stolen by the cable guy(that's another story, and I didn't turn him in because I wasn't sure) in any case, I just recently found the discs inside the player when I decided to pull all my cds out to get rid of it. thank God I didn't say anything to the cable guy, but it baffled me where they went for the longest time.
