Quick question - DirecTivo / Standalone DVD Recorder
Sorry, but it's hard to search for words like dvd, recorder, how-to, etc. :P
I want to archive some basketball games I have on my DTivo using a standalone DVD recorder (+R, +RW).
I imagine I can just use component (y/r/w) cables OUT from my DTivo IN to the recorder?
Also, I know with a DTivo you have to watch the recording that's being saved to a VCR/DVD. Is there a synch function, or do I just start playing the saved recording, then hit "record" on the DVD recorder?
Thanks again

Yup, just match up DTiVo Out to Recorder In and flip the recorder to whatever the input is (L1 or L2 for example). You should see what DTiVo is currently showing.
In your saved TiVo recordings, one of the options should be "Save to VCR". If you click on that and follow it through: before the beginning of the recorded segment, it will show a black screen along with the show details. You can hit record right then, it lasts a few seconds before starting the actual show.
Otherwise just hitting record the second you hit play on the TiVo works just as well.

Thanks, worked just as described.
I do have one other question, although admittedly I didn't troubleshoot it very much yet.
Right now I have SVideo and RCA audio OUT from the DTivo to the recorder, and video/audio OUT from the recorder to the TV. I was able to record from my DTivo just fine, and played the DVD back on the recorder as well. When I put the disc in my regular DVD player (SVideo OUT to TV, optical audio OUT to receiver), I got video but no sound, no matter what I tried on my receiver. I tried replacing the optical audio cable with RCA cables and then I got sound.
Did I record the sound incorrectly on the DVD recorder? The only audio setting availabe was "Digital Sound" on or off - I tried both and neither produced any sound via the optical cable.
