Vertical positioning (LCD TVs) ???

I was wondering if vertical positioning causes any picture loss. The 2 movies I have watched that have an aspect ratio of 1:85:1, on my TV has no black bar on the top but a fairly medium sized one at the bottom. I used the vertical positioning to even out the bars at the top and bottom, am I losing any picture by doing this? Sorry if this is a lame question.

I would assume not if you're just moving the picture to where one bar was.

I often move a 2:35 movie up or down on my RPTV to even out any effects of burn-in.
