HELP ME!!! Help needed on laserdisc (I think) remote control

Hi, I have a Philips remote control that I believe came with a laserdisc player. It is a model RC488CDV. Any help anyone could give me would be great. I desperately want to use it, but can't figure it out. What I am wondering is if I could program it to run current components or if anyone has a manual or knows how to program this thing. Have been looking for about 3 years, but to no avail.

Does it look like this?

If it does, it looks like it is just a universal remote. Why not just buy a more up-to-date one instead of trying to figure out this one?

That's the exact model. I have found them before on eBay, but nobody ever has codes for it or how to program it. That's what I have been looking for. As for why would I want this one and not an updated one it's pretty simple, I already have this one and don't want to buy another if I don't have to. For the price of a new remote I could buy more dvds.

You might want to consider selling it on ebay if you don't need it... many laserdisc units are missing remotes and they usually sell readily.

Yeah, Maybe I will. Any suggestions on an all in one remote to get? I don't want one of those cheap ones. Would probably like to get a touch screen type.

There is a recent thread in this forum for remotes.

I just got the Harmony 680, and I love it, much better than my last one. I believe right now there is a 25% off rebate going around if you check out the Harmony forum in the above link.

Hi,

I'm new here...

I know it's an old treat but do you still have this remote?

I'm looking for (this) one...

Thanks in advance...

Re: HELP ME!!! Help needed on laserdisc (I think) remote control

I'm back after a, I guess, 7 year hiatis!!! I'll try to find that remote and we'll work something out. At one point,
I was able to figure out how to program the remote myself after trial and error. I even had all of my
components programmed into it. Who would have figured that a remote and a 15 year old thread
would bring me back.

Also, add a third unexpected twist to this thread, TomOpus is both jet's and Multiwizardking's father.
