Questions about Sony 50" Wega + Accessories

So in the next few weeks I'm ordering this TV ( http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NvUkJL6...h=sony+wega+50 ) and I could really use any advise you guys have.

-Do you know of anywhere that might be less expensive or have last years model for less money? Crutchfield doesn't charge tax and the shipping is $20.

-I have a young child so I need to get a screen protector. Any advise on this or stands would be appreciated (best stores and/or brands, estimate of price) as I'm completely clueless as to where to go.

-Anyone have this tv? What do you think of it? I have a friend who has last years model which I really like.

Thanks in advance for anyone who replies.

One Call still has it for 2599.13, including shipping, tax free. There have been lower places on the internet, even Sony Authorized places, that have it lower, like Electronics-expo. However, theyre sold out of it now, and the only price they show is the 2999.99 (they were down around 2200 or so).

I have a 60" WEGA and im very pleased with it. These sets have some user tweaks in the service menu that have been well documented for best achievable picture quality. Check out www.avsforum.com when you get it.

Thanks for your responces. Do you have a screen protector Save Ferris? I've got a ten month old so it's going to be a must have from day one.

No screen protector. I dont have any toddlers to mess with it lol

My screen probably starts (guessing) about 30" off the ground. would your toddler be able to reach that?

It would be pretty close. Any ideas on where to start looking for one? Checked One Call and Cruthfield and neither has screen protectors.
