Faroudja Chip

If a DVD player uses Faroudja Chip / Dcdi - well, at least claimed on the casing, is it already a guarantee that the player will give excellent performance in video (especially in terms of prog. scanning capability and its related aspects)? or are there might other factors in determining excellent picture quality of a DVD player?

Deinterlacing is just one aspect of good video quality. The DCDI chip has no impact on sharpness, color accuracy, black level, or other picture attributes. The DVD player should have a good MPEG decoder in addition to a good deinterlacing chip.

Be sure you compare the quality with something else before just assuming one brand is better because they use a high-end audiophile nomenclature.
