Helping DVD picture quality on LCD TV (Question)
I just got an LCD TV as an early X-mas present and I was wondering what I can do to sharpen the picture on my DVD player. I currently only have the DVD player (Philips 727) connected to the regular A/V slots. Do I need to buy different cables (component?) to better the picture I get out of it?
Thanks!
Thanks!

You can get them pretty much anywhere that sells TVs or electronics, from Wal-Mart and Best Buy to high-end electronics stores. What color the cables aren't doesn't matter.

thanks for all the help. last question, does the price usually matter? if I were to spend $60-70 on cables would the quality not be as good as something a little more expensive?

There's a lot of argument over cable cost here. The general concensus is that Monster Cable is overpriced for what you get. My own opinion is that you don't want cheap, junky cables that have badly-soldered connectors and poor or not-existent shielding. People (including myself) seem to have had good experience with AR (Acoustic Research) brand cables, which Best Buy carries.

What kind of movies do you normally watch?

and Polizei I normally watch just about anything. even though my collection has a lot of horror films, it is pretty varied. I watched a handful of different movies yesterday and it's pretty apparent that I need to get some component cables. picture is fuzzy and so on.

is there a required viewing distance for a 27" LCD TV? I just bought a set of monster cables, and noticed the picture looks better from 6-7 feet away then it does when I'm right near it. sorry if any of this sounds dumb, this is my first high end or so television.

BTW: Components, Composite, and Stereo audio cables all use "RCA Plug" cables. The only difference is what's sent over the cables. Composite uses one cable for video, composite uses three, stereo audio uses two, mono audio uses one. The cables are all the same, so you should be able to find "component" cables just about everywhere, including most drugstores.
The only difference is the color coding on the plugs, so if you can keep that straight in your own mind then you can use any of the "other" cables.
