Best 27" TV ($300-$350)
I need a TV for my computer room and feel like a 27" would be a good size for it. I'm looking to spend $300-350, no more. I've looked at the 27" Samsung as well as the 27" Panasonic Tau, but don't know much about either one. Any input would be nice since I'll be picking this up sometime around Christmas time. I don't have a preference on what brand, just looking for a nice picture and decent sound.
If it makes a difference, I will be using it for TV, DVD's, and PS2.

i have the Toshiba 27AF44 and it's great, great picture quality and has the 16:9 mode that makes the widescreen DVDs look excellent.
Best Buy has it listed at 349$ i think but when i wnet to the store like 2 months ago to buy it, i was able to get it at 270+tax!

I bought the Samsung 27", (the one at Sam's club), and ended up returning it, b/c the sound quality wasn't good, no matter how much I fiddled with it. Also, it had a noticeable "hum" which was the main reason I was looking to get a new tv; my old Sharp 27" has a hum. I'm still looking.

I bought the JVC I'art 27" flat screen not too long ago for our kitchen. We've had it a year, and it so far it's great. Excellent pic quality especially for dvd, and xbox/ps2. The sound is great....there is a "virutal surround" option that works particularly well.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess it's a toss-up between the Panasonic and the Toshiba since they both are the same price apparently and both are good choices. Either one is a nice upgrade from the 4 year old 13" Sony I am currently working with in here.

I have a Panasonic 27SL14 in my bedroom, it is a great little TV. DVDs on the component hookup look fantastic, though I have to fiddle a bit with the controls when playing the darker video games. Taus are all about the black level. I work for a liquidation company here in town, and we get a lot of returned TV product. We probably see more Toshibas than any other brand; but I think it has more to do with shoddy casings and sound quality than anything else. Just my two cents, if I had to choose, it would be between a Panny and a Sony.
