Help needed - Toshiba 3900 and DVD+R DL

I have a Toshiba 3900 and just created my first DVD+R Dual Layer with an NEC burner. The burn process appeared to be a success, and there were no errors reported during the process. However, when I try to play it in the T3900, it says Disc Error and ejects.

Anyone know how I can correct this? I'd hate to think that I just wasted $34 on 3 blanks (or 2 blanks and a new coaster).

Is there a possible firmware upgrade that I would need to do in order to play these? The last firmware change I did was to eliminate the need for the controller "trick" to play all regions.

If this unit can not do this, perhaps someone can suggest a good replacement.

Please help. Thanks in advance.

Do you know what booktype the NEC drive is setting. Either your player doesn't like DVD+R DL at all or it doesn't like the booktype (most likely DVD+R DL). If you can find a bit setting utility or a firmware updater, you should try to set it to DVD-ROM, which yields better playback results.
