Advice on finally getting High Def (DirectTV vs cable etc)
We recently purchased a Samsung 61" DLP TV (HLP) and have not hooked it up yet because we do not have any type of reception (been using regular attenae). I have been researching the net on wheter to get satellite or cable HDTV service, but have not been able to find any useful information for my particular TV. What would you guys recommend for a DLP TV? Does it depend on the TV more or the area that I am in more?
Also, what is the best way to purchase DirectTV service? There's so many different deals and offers out there, it's hard to decide. Should I just go to Best Buy and purchase a receiver and have it installed or should I go directly to DirectTV? Any promos I should keep an eye out for or are coming up?
All help is appreciated!

I purchased my initial Direct TV receiver/antenna through a local AV retailer. Sincce then I have added additional receivers by buying them wherever I found the best price.
For my OTA HD and my additional dish requirements for HD I contacted a local antenna company to perform that work for me.
I have had Direct TV for nearly 7 years and I am very pleased with the service, prices and performance.
Good luck.

I have been with HD on Cable & have a few friends with HD on Direct. I have HD with www.voom.com which I personally recommend. Much more HD selection for your money.

I also have the Samsung 61" DLP and I have comcast HD cable. The picture is amazing. Even more amazing than the HD demo I watched in the store. Can't speak for DirecTV but Comcast HD is perfect if it's available in your area.
