Viewing Distance for a 61"

I might be getting a 61" DLP for wholesale price.

I dont want to pass it up but my viewing distance will be about 10 feet.

At that distance, will I regret having a screen this big?

Depends on what you're watching.
I think the 'formula' is something like
eye-distance from screen = 1.5 to 2.5 the measurement of the tv.
You can be closer, and still enjoy the picture, with HD or anamorphic DVD than with an analog picture.
I think the measurements you gave are just about perfect.

I've always looked at viewing distance as rather subjective. There's folks that like to sit in the front row at the movies, and those who'd rather be further back.

It is definitely subjective. You're best bet is to head into a local B&M and find a screen the same size, stand 10' frome it and see how you feel. When my wife and I purchased our 42" tv, we went to a local Tweeters and had the sales reps bring out chairs. We measured our exact distance we'd be sitting, plopped the chairs down, and had them show us the different feeds. Worked like a charm!

Yup it's subjective. For reference I sit 8.5' from my 55" so 10' sounds good to me for a 60".

It's definitely subjective and if youre getting a good deal them jump on it. I have a 27 inch flat screen on my computer desk!
