What does SD mean? I know HD but sometimes see SD on my popup screen.

Means you're receiving San Diego Reception... a little cloudy in the morning, but is clear and warm the rest of the day


Okay, SD = Standard Definition... regular 'ol analog (or something like that)

HD = High Definition... 720p, 1080i, and onward
SD = Standard Defintion... 480i or 480p

Most people refer to SD as your regular viewing digital channels. Sometimes the analog signal gets included too.

Just always remember that HD is much, much better than SD.

I believe that 480p is considered ED, enhanced definition. It's found on plasma TVs a fair amount.
