I was wondering if I've got to set my tv AND my dvd player both to progressive scan to take advantage of that feature. Also when do I use the interlaced and progressive feature on my tv? Is taht only for movies or tv both? When am I suppose to use the 420 720 1080i? features? Thanks

Progressive scan deinterlacing is done by either the TV or the DVD player, not both. If you turn on progressive scan on the DVD player, it disables that chip inside the TV. If your DVD player is not progressive, the TV does the work.

Someone more technical will correct me if I'm wrong but DVD signal is 480p so that's what your tv will display regardless of what you set your tv resolution at. Unless you have a DVD player that can do upconversion to 720p/1080i and can take advantage of the higher resolutions that your tv can display.
