Help - bad infared sensor on Onkyo receiver

I have the Onkyo HTS760 (great system btw), but the infared sensor went bad. The receiver still worked fine, it just wouldn't work with any remote. I took it into the local authorized service center, they had it for 3 weeks, I got it back, the remotes worked again for a few hours, then nothing again.

According to the work order, it looks like the shop just cleaned everything out and didn't replace any parts. If I take it back in to them, should I insist they put in a new part, and if so, any idea what part that would be?

Thanks
