Ummm....not quite. $^)

As you'll see above, I was referring to the LS5, not the L55. The 55 is a much larger unit (big enough to fit a larger screen) and the pq is not as good. The LS5 is square, right about the size of a square portable CD player, and has the nifty tilt-forward hinge design.

Oh yeah. And the LS5 screen is nicer than the L55's IMO. The 55's screen looks even smaller than it is because it is set in a much larger lid.

When I say 'size matters' (for portable DVD players!!!) I mean that portability and *small* size are important. The Mintek is one of the smaller/lighter 7" units. The LS5 is about 5.5"x5.25" and it fits easily into any portable CD-player case.

The LS5 is pricier now, and the Mintek is a nice unit and great deal. (I'd avoid the Apex's and Audiovoxs and Initial/Polaroids, etc.) If I needed a portable DVD player now, I'd go with the Mintek. But the LS5 was too good a deal to pass up, and the pq is stunning. It also has a really good lateral viewing angle, which many players don't. 3 people can easily watch this while sitting next to each other. (Although I only have a 2-way heaqdphone splitter.)

Anyway, I *really* just wanted to point out that you DIDN'T get me this time--wrong model!!!

Maybe next time. $^) $^) $^)

It's not my day today. You and X are giving me the old 1 2

I guess the battle rages on. I'd like to see a LS5 one day.

Played with the LS5 today At CC and I must say, it's pretty impressive. Very impressive picture, great sound, terrific construction and nice portable size....

Hoping to borrow my brother's Mintek this weekend to play with...

They might have a sale on the LS5's again. I got it from CC for $220 after MIR plus a free DVD
