Help me spend upto $1K on a speaker package

I have upto $1,000 that I can spend on a decent speaker package and wanted to get people's opinions. I have a Denon 2803 receiver and am looking to put in a 5 speaker package that would have a 12" sub woofer.

The layout of the room is odd however. Its a long narrow room with a 55" TV on one end and the couch on the opposite wall, about 25 feet away. I was considering towers in the front. For the rears, I wanted to get some advice as well as the rear wall, directly jutting up against the sofa is my only place to put the surround speakers.

I considered Cambridge Soundworks speakers (http://www.hifi.com) with the Tower series and the multi-pole rears. However, even that adds up.

Any suggestoins, recommendations, advice?

Thanks in advance!

If you can do bookshelf,

Five of these NHT speakers.

Definitely with this SVS PCi sub

(Shipping might push you slightly over budget.)

If you definitely want tower

Check out these Fluance speakers

With this SVS PCi sub

Honestly that is going to be tough for several reasons. A decent sub is going to eat up anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of that budget. Also, floor standing towers are going to be a large part of the budget as well.

Perhaps try towers with subs in them, or purchase the front three and a sub and save fro the rear speakers.

Also try some online only companies, Axiom Audio or AV123.com

Good luck

for $999 + tax/shipping, you can get the Rocket Extremely Luscious Theater 1 package. I'm trying talking my dad into this set.

http://www.av123.com/products_catego...akers&brand=13

You can read about it on AV123's forum.

They also have some other interesting packages you may want to take a look at, but they are a little more than a $1K.

You could also try to hunt down 3 pair of the excellent JBL S36II speakers currently on clearance at Best Buy B&M for $129.99/pair. Leaves you approx. $600 for a nice SVS or Hsu sub... or a Velodyne: Velodyne CHT-15 for $479.99 at etronics.com

Adire Audio's 12" Rava sub for $399+tax/shipping

http://www.adireaudio.com/home_audio...eries/rava.htm

They have link's to reviews, forums, etc. They're switching the site around, so be patient if you have any problems.

Adire also has some nice bookshelf loudspeakers, too, but they seem to be out of your budget if want to spend $1k on a 5.1 system.
