Branching question
My name is Frank. I have a question about my DVD player. I have the DRC212N Model. It’s a great DVD player. How ever I have notice DVDs with seemly branch features I see a pause every time there is a new scene. Is this Normal for this DVD player to have the problem? If not is there an upgrade I can download to fix this?

Hey Frank,
Yeah that is pretty normal. Depending on the player, some have a larger buffer memory. So when a seemless branching part occurs or when the disc changes layers, the pause is less noticed. SInce seemless branching grabs a scene from another part of the disc, you'll almost lways notice some sort of pause. Hope this helps

There are discs that have branching that is not meant to be seamless, in which case there is a slight pause while the laser pickup relocates. An example that comes to mind is the addition of deleted scenes in "X=Men," which is not seamless.
Some players don't handle seamless branching all that well, which might be the case here.
Frank, what seamless branching DVDs are you trying to watch?

I can't speak about SNow White, but you should definitely not be getting any pausing during T2. I know the T2 Ultimate Edition gave some players fits, and if memory serves RCA DVD players had some difficulties.

I think they used the same thing for T2 Extream. With snow white and other disney dvds when a there is another lang like French the titles are in that same lang. If there is any other texts like the words on the beds in the movie they change to that lang.
