Problems with Philips 727 image flicker/"pulsing"?

I bought a Philips 727 about 3 weeks ago after reading some good things about it here and elsewhere. For the most part, I like it a lot. However, there's a flicker or "pulsing" effect on the image for the first several minutes every time I turn it on. This happens even while the player is displaying its "Loading" screen, and isn't actually playing a DVD. Typically, the flicker/pulse goes away after a few minutes, but on the most recent disc I watched, it lasted for almost half an hour. It does this on DVDs from all different regions, and when not even playing a movie, as stated earlier.

The flicker/pulsing almost seems to make the whole image smaller by a minute amount before then returning to normal for a few seconds, before "pulsing" again. That's the best way I can think of to describe it.

Has anyone else experienced this, and is there a fix for it? Thanks!

How is the player hooked up to the TV?

Just the basic red, white, yellow cables. This is a secondary set-up for my bedroom. Nothing fancy.

I bought my Philips 727 from amazon.com and it worked fine until last night. Now i am not getting any picture at all, i notice that the audio is fine but that's it. I changed my RCA cables just to make sure, used the player on another television but nothing, does anyone know what the problem could be?
