Some questions regarding the JVC AV-32FA44
I'm planning on purchasing a 32" flat screen. I'm leaning towards the JVC I'Art AV-32FA44 that I saw at SAMs for just over $500 (about $200 cheaper than a comparable Sony WEGA they had there too). But I've not found any really detailed reviews so I'm wondering about the following:
Does the AV-32FA44 do progressive scan? None of the few reviews I've found mentioned it one way or another. This is not a deal-breaker for me but rather a nice bonus, if it has this capability.
I guess I should add that I'm not interested in anything HDTV capabable since it wouldbe a waste of money where I live (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico) since we neither have HDTV over the air or via sattelite.
How's the color decoding? I have an old AV-32950 (pre V chip, to give you an idea of how old it is) that has served me well but unfortunately has very high reds and somewhat low greens. At least that's what I gathered after using DVE (yes, I finally found a copy
) and observing the color bar pattern with the red and green filter after I calibrated it using the blue filter. I'd like the color levels to be as uniform as possible on the next set I purchase.
BTW, only the source (DVD player for example) is what clips bellow black and not the actual set, right? Just curious cos my new DVD player (a JVC RX-DV3SL) doesn't seem to do below black unless I raise the player's brightness level by aboutone notch. Previously, I had assumed that all new DVD players reproduced below black levels by default.
