The RP82 was dicontinued a while ago. If you want one you'll need to search the HT forums or ebay.

Your Mits will deinterlace any 480i signal into 480p but the deinterlacing chip that was in the RP82 and my RP56 from Panasonic was much better than the built in TV one but is no longer used in the inexpensive players. This chip is from Sage/Genesis/ Faroujda and is found in the Denon 1600 which is also discontinued. Denon's new 2900 has it I believe but I'm not certain. I read a press release that the new Panny player coming out in a few months were going to go back to this chip but I think it's only in the higher end units.

i have heard that Panasonic will be releasing a player soon with both the Faroudja chipset and DVI (or HDMI), so you may want to wait for that.
it will still have component connections.

You can get a refurbished X30 from the Sharper Image for ~$140 or so.

Is DVI starting to get a standard set, so it'll be supported? That would be nice--I was thinking about my HD cable box using the DVI port on my tv, but I didnt' even think about a dvd player using it. I'd hate to outdate my current player so quickly, but it's not a superduper pro theater version, and did only cost 60 bucks after a coupon [5 disk prog scan player.]

DVI.... not yet! I have one on my sony wega and heard the differrence on crt is not that noticeable.

I bought a panny XP-50 for $70 shipped private sale. cant beat that! on my new Sony Wega HDTV I cant see the difference between it and mmy old Pioneer.

maybe on my front projector it will make a difference.

I'd like to know what you're asking for it, but your profile isn't setup to take e-mails.
