Connecting a video player to surround sound
if im not mistaken is it possible to connect my video player to my surround sound in the same way i would put my tv in surround sound? are videos any good in surround sound? are videos worth the cheap price tag on them now a days?

If you mean VHS, yes you can hook it up to your receiver and get surround sound. Obviously not 5.1 but 2.0. The sound will vary with the video. Are they worth it? Not in my book. Why take a step backwards. I couldn't dump my video collection fast enough once I started with DVD.

If it is a VHS player it must be a "hi-fi" model to give you stereo out. With this stereo out (left and right rca's) connected to a Dolby pro logic receiver you can decode "surround sound" and the sound is okay but not nearly as good as DVD.

well it works on my dvd player and surround sound. Im only wanting to hook it up becuase we had a sony vhs player spare in the office and i had about 50 videos so i may as well make use of it rather than it sitting there collecting dust.

Yep. Just make sure it's a "hi-Fi" model, make sure to get some good quality cables for it, hook it up to your receiver, put that bad boy in Dolby Pro-Logic mode, and you're off. Still though, is it worth it to watch VHS still?
