Mitsubishi 313 Vs. 413

As near as I can tell the only difference in these lines (silver series and silver plus) is the Net Command feature. I could care less about it and the 313 are closer to my budget.

If you spend any time reading posts over at the HomeTheaterSpot.com many owners of the 313 series have complained of the PQ being more grainy on the the 313 than on the 413. For the slight increase in price the 413 seems like it has a better picture from what I've read.

I did a search on there before but could not find what you did. I don't mind the grain so much as jaggies (feathering) that is my main pet peve.

I have the 55313 and while it was a bit grainy out of the box, one I ran my Avia disk on it it looked much better.

We have the 48413. When we were looking at RPTV's I had the Mits,Toshiba and Hitachi on our list. I belong to the www.hometheaterspot.com site and it helped me a lot in making my decision. The 413 series was recomended over the 313 in the area of PQ. We were lucky that a local HiFi store ran a three day sale on all Mits that included the 413. That was six weeks ago and the 413 hasn't been on sale anywhere since.

The last I checked the site there's a couple of others that are asking the same question. Mitsubishi's site does detail what each series has and a explanation of the function. The "Quad Focus" is considered a plus with PQ.

Quad field focus is more marketing crap than anything else. It's supposed to help the focus on the screen edges but you'd be hard pressed to see any difference. That said there does seem to be an improvement in the optics of the 413 line over the 313 line from user feedback. Those that bought the 313 are saying there is more noise in the image. Notice I refrain from using the word grain like I did in my earlier post. I don't like using the word grain because video noise is often refered to as grain when it's not. Film grain is also people mistake for noise when it's a sign of a good DVD transfer and a TV that is calibrated to reveal the detail that allows film grain to be seen.
