I would HIGHLY recommend you stay away from Sony's Projection HDTV's. They have a long track record of quality control issues with their entire rear projection HDTV lines. $3300 + is WAY to high anyways!

Now let me state that I am a Sony ES fan and like most of Sony's products but these are NOT the Sony products you want to buy!

I suggest first looking at Pioneer, then Mitubushi, Toshiba, and Panasonic.

I haven't heard of Sony's lcd-rptvs having any issues like their crt-rptvs.

I haven't priced the GWIII myself but that seems like a decent price. I think list is $3999 so $600 is about 15% off. That seems pretty good since it is pretty new to the market and is in high demand.

Check out avsforum, there are couple (or more) of people reporting that their GWIII die within the first week of purchasing.

Most of the reviews I have read have been positive. I am looking at the 50 inch model myself. They look great in the store.

You should have no problem exchanging it within the first week.
